Where is your Courage?

Being in touch with your creative self takes courage. Courage: the quality that allows us to face something that is difficult or painful. So why does honoring our creativity require us to face something difficult? Aren’t we supposed to be looking for ease, for getting to spend time with the things we love? What is this business about courage, anyway?

It’s just that it’s easier sometimes to live life at one remove from things we truly care about. Caring takes energy, passion, and dedication. Sometimes it is easier to do the dishes, run the errands, and let the demands of daily life define our days. Yet why do the dishes come first? Work on finding the courage to prioritize your creative projects. First. Let your own work demand your time. Name all the ways that you can inculcate courage in your life. Finding the courage to remain open. Using courage to be curious. Loving the courage it takes to stay true to yourself.
