Launching a Blog in a Pandemic
Last fall when I was doing some strategy planning for my business, I wrote a rough draft of what was going to be my first blog post. It was about the gradual darkening of the winter season and finding ways to stay connected to creativity throughout the slower winter months. Somehow the blog never got started and now, here we are in our “new normal”, where continuing to stay motivated and feel creative is quite a challenge!
Why launch a blog about creativity now, in the midst of all this madness? Because the work of creativity is that of exploring the unknown. We’re all feeling at loose ends. We’re juggling our new working realities, family care, and how to continue to live fully in the midst of a pandemic. Panic and fear can rear their heads too easily. So listen, now, to the subtle little voice that tells us that we have to pay attention to a deeper meaning within these times. How do we creatively expand into these new spaces?
No matter how long (or short) this period of increased isolation and struggle lasts, we can be part of a wake-up call, one shifting our world to a new set of values and priorities. Let’s keep asking ourselves, “What really matters?” Let’s keep saying, “How do I make room for some of that?” Let’s find ways to set limits on the never-ending demands of our work and busy culture and re-connect to ourselves through our creativity.
