We love meeting new writers!

How does the group work?

Our meetings run for two hours.  We write in silence for the first hour and then use the second hour to either read, share about our process, or pass!  Sometimes we discuss larger themes about writing in general.  Each gathering is a little different and we have a diverse set of writers working in a variety of genres, including memoir, historical works, flash fiction, poetry, and horror.

The Landscape About Us: A SouthCoast Anthology

An all-local publication of the Westport Writers Group and Midori Creativity featuring twenty five authors and photographers from around the SouthCoast. Published in Spring 2024.

The Westport Writers Group emerged out of the Westport Writes Together! project, a town-wide participatory creative writing project that invited anyone in town to contribute to an assortment of seasonal writing.  As part of that project, Westport Writes!  held three writers' gatherings at the Macomber Friends Community House and three library readings at the Westport Free Public library.  A dedicated, engaging, and insightful group of writers formed from these events.  We're now committed to having a publicly-available space for the writing and literary community in Westport and the surrounding area to come together and share work.
