Fierceness

Staying true to a creative path requires fierceness like nothing else I know. It is so easy to fall off the path, to avoid the hard steps that get us actively creating and making the things that matter to us. Almost every step I can think of in the creative process is one where fierceness is necessary to get us back on track.

We make a commitment to get up early to work on our writing. A week later, we are starved for sleep or retreating back to our mindless social media scrolling.

We stop by the art store and invest in some new materials. There they are, waiting for us! It requires fierceness to set aside the other tasks nibbling at our brain cells and devote time to the creative project in front of us.

Being fierce with your creativity is like a mama lion protecting her cubs. Roar at the enemy. Pace back and forth in front of the little ones you are protecting. Make your stance steady and strong, showing the world that you will not be moved.
